Chris – teamwork is the key

Chris was given her NIV about 8 weeks ago, after a hospital admission with a chest infection. Chris didn’t want to try NIV but she was impressed with how it helped her. She decided to take it home to try using it at night.

Starting in hospital with the support of the ward team went very well. However, coming home and using it every night was a challenge. They struggled to get a seal with the mask.

Their respiratory physiotherapist was really supportive. Chris thanks him for their eventual success. He gave them lots advice and new masks to try. Andrew, Chris’ husband has also been a real help in fine tuning their NIV routine.

It took several weeks to get it right, but with some good teamwork and support Chris is now using her NIV every night, all night.
